Love Letter: From Antwerp
Dear Friends,
I’m writing to you from Antwerp.
And there is something so magical about being here.
Behind doors that most people will never walk through are thousands of parcels of diamonds from around the world. Papers unfold. Stones are placed on the table. The coffee is poured. The loupe comes out.
And the search begins. ✨
✦ The Hunt for Your Diamond ✦
I've looked at hundreds of diamonds.
And I've said no to hundreds of diamonds.
That's part of the job that you don't usually get to see.
Because I'm not looking for a 2.50-carat round.
I'm looking for YOUR 2.50-carat round!
I'm not looking for the diamond with the fanciest report or simply the lowest price. I'm looking for the one that makes me stop when I see it.
The one with life.
The one with incredible sparkle.
The one where I immediately think:
"WOW! This is hers."
And today, that happened.
More than once.
Those are the moments I wish I could bottle up and bring home with me. The moment when weeks of conversations, wish lists, budgets, sketches, and dreams suddenly become something real sitting in the palm of my hand.
That's what Sourcing the Sparkle really means.
And knowing that some of these diamonds already have someone's name attached to them makes this trip feel completely different.
✦ I’m Shopping for People ✦
I'm not shopping for inventory.
I'm shopping for people.
For proposals that haven't happened yet.
For anniversaries still to be celebrated.
For jewelry that's going to mark a chapter in someone's life.
And yes…I’m finding a few treasures that don't have names yet, too.
Those might be the most dangerous ones.
Because every once in a while, I find something I simply can't leave in Antwerp.
I'll bring those home for you.
Until then, I'm going back to the hunt.
Antwerp has more sparkle to show me. ✨
P.S. If you've been watching from home thinking, "I should have told Kim what I was looking for…" send us a message. If I haven't finished buying yet, you never know what I might find.
